By accessing or using Register My Gear ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Platform. These terms apply to all users, including personal account holders, business account holders, and approved agency users.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep this information updated. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of all information you submit to the Platform, including item descriptions, serial numbers, photos, and documents. You represent that you have the right to register any item you add to your account. You may not use the Platform to register false information, impersonate others, or upload content that is illegal, infringing, or harmful. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms.
Register My Gear provides tools to help you document ownership and facilitate communication between finders and owners. We do not guarantee that any lost or stolen item will be recovered. Recovery depends on many factors outside our control, including whether the item is found, whether the finder scans the QR code, and whether an agency searches the serial number. We are not responsible for the actions of third parties, including finders, agencies, or law enforcement.
Register My Gear is a private property registry platform. It is not a government registry, official title database, or legal registry of ownership. Registration with us does not create, transfer, or prove legal title to any property. Our records are not a substitute for government registration, insurance documentation, or other formal ownership proof where required by law.
While Register My Gear provides strong evidence of ownership through dated records, photos, serial numbers, and receipts, this evidence alone may not constitute legal proof of ownership in all jurisdictions or for all purposes. We recommend maintaining original purchase documentation, insurance records, and other formal proof of ownership. Our certificates and reports are designed to supplement, not replace, these documents.
Agency accounts are subject to verification and approval by our admin team. We may deny or revoke agency access at any time for any reason, including false credentials, misuse of data, or violation of these terms. Approved agencies agree to use search data only for legitimate recovery purposes and to comply with all applicable laws regarding data access and privacy. All agency searches are logged and may be audited.
Paid plans are billed annually. You authorize us to charge the payment method you provide through our third-party payment processor. Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your billing settings. Refunds are provided at our discretion and generally not available for partial billing periods. We may change pricing with notice to current subscribers.
You agree not to use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the Platform. Prohibited activities include: attempting to access data you do not own, interfering with other users, using automated tools to scrape or extract data, distributing malware, or engaging in any activity that violates applicable laws. Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.
You retain ownership of all content you upload to the Platform. By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to use, store, and display that content solely for the purpose of providing our services. You represent that you have the right to upload any content you submit and that it does not infringe on any third party's rights. The Platform, its design, code, and branding are our intellectual property and may not be copied or used without permission.
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for our services in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms, fraudulent activity, or any other reason at our discretion. You may also delete your account at any time from your settings. Upon termination, your access to the Platform will cease, and we may delete or retain your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and legal obligations.
We may modify these Terms of Service at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the Platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Register My Gear operates. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Platform will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with applicable rules, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.
